LED Troubleshooting
Chromatiicat LED wearables are made with electronic wires that are flexible and waterproof, but they can malfunction or break. Typically, breaks happen where the wires have been repeatedly bent or strained. The controller and USB ends can also break if they get bent or crushed, or if they are used without the flexible extension cords that are included with each order.
If your LED item is having issues, we have a few suggestions to troubleshoot at home.
1. My LED wearable item won't light up at all:
Make sure your battery is charged and functioning. Does the battery light up when you plug in your lights? If so, the controller is drawing power, so there may be damage to the solder points or wires beyond the controller.
If the battery does not light up, try using another battery or removing the 6" extension cord and plugging the LED controller directly into the battery. If this solves the issue, then the extension cord simply needs to be replaced.
(note: I do not recommend wearing your item without using a flexible extension cord between the controller and the battery, as this can easily strain or break the USB plug on the controller.)
If the battery does not light up with or without the extension cord, the controller may be damaged and will likely need repair/replacement.
2. Some of the LEDs work and some won't turn on (or are malfunctioning):
There may be damage to the wires, or there may just be a simple data issue.
To troubleshoot, plug your LEDs into a battery and connect to the Ideal LED app using a smartphone. Make sure Bluetooth is on and connect to your LED wearable in the app. Once connected, the functioning LEDs should blink. Go to "Settings" in the app, then "Number of Lights Setting." Try changing the number and saving your changes. It is possible that your LEDs reset to a lower number of lights than your piece actually contains. (for example, the app often auto-sets to 100 lights, but many items, such as coats and glow worms, contain more than 100 LEDs.
If connecting to the app and adjusting the settings does not fix the issue, there is likely damage to the wires and your item will need repair.
